We love learning more about our contributors, and an interview seemed like a fun way to hear more about the writers and artists we publish, so we gave them a choice of questions to answer. We hope you also enjoy hearing more about the artists and their works. Check out Issue #27 for work from Anita Mottaghi and more.

What was the inspiration for the piece published in the issue?
I’m deeply in love with rain—it has always been something magical and emotional for me. This illustration is actually part of a series of frames from a larger picture book I’m working on, which revolves around rain and the quiet, real-life moments we all experience around it.'

Who or what inspires your work generally?
My biggest source of inspiration is life itself—and all the details I pay attention to every day. I’m constantly moved by nature, people, animals, and the ways they behave and interact. The smallest gestures and quiet moments often spark the strongest ideas for me.
